Cool Tools and where to find them

This page is for both current and ex-users of the CFD Lab. There are several tools that many of the users find useful in their programming efforts. I have grouped them together in blocks. By far the most useful is GNU Emacs, the kitchen sink editor. It can do millions of things (O.K. billions of things), to make programming easy from editting programs to handling mail and usenet, directory editting and editting in color.

I maintain a install notes file in the lab. It is a brief list of steps I did to install a piece of software. It may be helpful when installing software at other locations. It is in /usr/local/help/SYS_ADMIN/Install_Notes.
