2019 Finite Element Rodeo
March 1–2, 2019, the University of Texas at Austin

The Finite Element Rodeo is an annual, informal conference that brings together researchers and students interested in the implementation and theory of finite element methods (FEM) for various applications. Its location rotates between several universities in Texas and Louisiana.

The program consists of randomly ordered talks volunteered by conference participants. We invite researchers interested in FEM to volunteer to give a short talk, or to just attend the meeting. At the beginning of the rodeo, we will ask for all those willing to speak to come forward. We will use this information to determine the length of the talks and arrange a schedule. The total available time is divided by the number of speakers, but usually the time allotted per talk is 10-15 minutes. Talks by graduate students and postdocs are particularly encouraged.

The 2019 edition of the Finite Element Rodeo will be held at the University of Texas at Austin on Friday and Saturday, March 1–2, 2019, beginning early afternoon on Friday and ending mid-afternoon on Saturday.

Schedule: Click for the Finite Element Rodeo schedule.

Workshop Venue: The workshop will be held in the Avaya Auditorium (POB 2.302) of the Peter O'Donnell Building (POB).

Accommodation and Parking: Click for a list of nearby hotels. Please note that there are many events in Austin, so hotels will fill up quickly. In particular, the annual Explore UT day is Saturday, March 2 from 11:00-5:00pm. You may wish to stay in a hotel farther away from the University. Also be aware that parking can be difficult to find, so consider parking at one of the visitor parking garages farther out. It appears that parking will be free on Saturday, due to Explore UT.

Meals: A conference dinner is planned for Friday evening. Saturday lunch will be provided.

Registration: We request that everyone who plans to attend the Rodeo click and register at the registration submission link by Friday, February 22. The registration cost is $30.00 for all attendees. The cost for guests of participants who attend the dinner is also $30.00. These fees will be collected at the conference registration table on March 1. Payment must be by check, made payable to The University of Texas at Austin, or by cash. We cannot accept credit cards.
[For UT-Austin only: Payments may also be made by transfer from UT-Austin accounts. Please contact Kelly Stokes at kstokes@ices.utexas.edu to arrange a transfer of funds.]

Contacts: Please contact Todd Arbogast at arbogast@ices.utexas.edu, Leszek Demkowicz at leszek@ices.utexas.edu, Tan Bui-Thanh at tanbui@ices.utexas.edu, or Kelly Stokes at kstokes@ices.utexas.edu with any questions or concerns.
